CMC, New Mart and Santee Court to Receive Building Awards
The California Market Center, MJW Investments and The New Mart, all based in Los Angeles, will receive awards for their real estate projects during the April 21 annual meeting of the Los Angeles Fashion District Business Improvement District (BID).
The awards are given to property owners who have made improvements to their buildings that in turn have contributed to the overall advancement of the Fashion District.
The CMC, which is in the process of being sold to Jamison Properties Inc., will be recognized for its renovation of the center’s 2A section, which has been enhanced with new showrooms and redesigned common areas featuring bold graphics and state-of-the-art entranceways and fixtures.
Eisenberg Properties, owner of The New Mart, will be noted for the renovation of the building’s street level, a former bank that was turned into contemporary apparel showrooms to provide enhanced visibility and a new showcase for apparelwholesalers.
MJW Chief Executive Officer Mark Weinstein will receive an award for Santee Court, the Fashion District’s first major residential project, featuring apartment lofts that sit atop new retail space.
In all, 24 awards will be doled out.
“Last year, we gave out 16 awards, and that was a record. This is an indication of how much new development and renovation is going on in the Fashion District,” said Los Angeles Fashion District BID Executive Director Kent Smith. “It shows how the property owners here are providing a foundation for growth with new investment to create the most vibrant part of downtown.” —Robert McAllister
