San Francisco Fashion Week '04: FIDM Alumni Show
The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising hosted an alumni show featuring Dena Burton Designs, Nunzio, Lisa Jones, Sitara SF Inc., Lovette, Trisha Okubo, Teresa Romero for T and Glaza. The audience enthusiastically applauded Glaza’s mix of one-of-a kind tailored pieces in plaids, polka dots and leather for men, women and the company’s newest division, kids. Glaza designers Marina Toybina and Ashton Hirota layered cutwork leather and deeply pleated fabric aprons over kilts, jeans and full skirts. Other favorites in the show included Terese Romero’s ’50s-inspired dresses and skirts with airbrushed and hand-beaded flowers, as well as Trisha Okubo’s ballet-inspired chiffon ball skirts and corsets in cocoa and pink. Jeanine Lovett’s ’80s-inspired line included plenty of skinny cuffed capris and fitted jackets with threequarter sleeves. Karen and Marie Potesta, designers for Nunzio, scored with a black-and-tan striped dress. —Alison N. Nieder
