Fashion Comes to the Schindler House
The Schindler House, the West Hollywood, Calif., residence designed by renowned architect Rudolf Schindler, is being converted into an art and fashion haven to showcase the works of designers, artists and musicians during a series called “Showdown! at the Schindler House.”
Runway shows, organized by the MAK Center for Art and Architecture and the Sundown Salon, are set for 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 23. The shows will feature such labels as Wooden Mustache, Andrew Andrew, We Are Lucid Dreaming and Liz Larner. Admission is $50 for each event.
An East Coast vs. West Coast performance battle will take place at 2 p.m. on Oct. 30 when Los Angeles art band My Barbarian and New York designers/performers Moriah Carlson and Alice Wu, who make up the label Feral Childe, each take over half of the Schindler House and stage competing events. Admission is $15.
The house will exhibit works from the series from Nov. 5 to Dec. 5. Selected works will be available in a silent auction, and several items will be available at an online auction from Oct. 24 to Nov. 15 at www.missionfish.com.
