Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Erica Rose
Designer Erica Rose returned to the P. Ka Bu lineup for the third season, showing her collection on Oct. 30 at the Blu Pinstripe Warehouse in Los Angeles.
A dancer in a yellow floral and tulle skirt opened the show and set the mood for the designer’s line: a pastiche of reworked vintage pieces and vintage-inspired fabrics presented as a modern girly collection.
Rose layered on the details, revealing a bit of lace beneath a hem, satin prints on a color-blocked tee, and a band of beaded trim at the hem of a skirt. Hot pants made from fringe- and button-trimmed fabrics were topped with satin jackets. Ultra-low-rise trousers and shorts came with obi-like waistbands of satin brocade or waistbands trimmed with floral rosettes. The rosette motif returned as trim on a tiered peach skirt. —Alison A.
