Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Anett Schneider
German designer Anett Schneider showed her eclectic line of hand-dyed garments for the first time in Los Angeles on Oct. 29 during P. Ka Bu, an event for emerging designers held at the Blu PinstripeWarehouse.
Schneider launched her U.S. collection five years ago in California’s Bay Area, where she has gained a growing customer base of boutiques looking for one-of-a-kind items. Now she is trying to make a name for herself in Los Angeles.
The designer presented plenty of hand-dyed pieces in silk and naturally dyed merino wool. Some of the pieces, such as long, draped dresses and skirts with tattered edges, had a gypsy feel. Reddish, amber and gold dyes gave the collection an antique look, as well. One notable combination was a crepe halter with a cinnamon leather skirt.
Schneider did open up her color palette with some long dresses dyed in green and with a few shorter numbers in yellow and gold. —Robert McAllister
