Project Joins Las Vegas Line Up
New York–based Project Global Trade Show will take its contemporary menswear show to Las Vegas, staging its event concurrently with MAGIC International’s next run in February.
Project will be held Feb. 13–15 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, which also houses the upscale menswear show The Exclusive (formerly called Westcoast Exclusive) and contemporary streetwear show Pool.
“We’re very excited,” said on-site producer Amy Freeman-Cohen, who said Pool founder Sam Ben-Avraham approached her organization with the idea of hosting his event side-by-side with theirs.
Project was founded in 2003 in New York. In August, Ben-Avraham held a Los Angeles version of the show at the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles.
Pool, which was founded in 2002, moved last season to Mandalay Bay from the Hilton Convention Center.
“The idea is making it a convenient one-stop [venue] for retailers,” Freeman-Cohen said.
Project is joining an ever-increasing Las Vegas apparel trade show scene as small, specialty shows spring up around the giant MAGIC International, which includes men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, as well as fabric and production sourcing exhibitors. Other shows held at the same time include Women’s Wear In Nevada (WWIN), the ASAP Global Sourcing Show and the Off-Price Specialist Show. Los Angeles–based swimwear show, the International Swimwear/Activewear Market (ISAM), also holds its event in August in Las Vegas. —Alison A. Nieder
