Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Grey Ant
Grant Krajecki showed his Grey Ant collection on Oct. 30 at The Mountain Bar in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. Stylists, press and buyers attended the show, which provided a low-key ending to Los Angeles Fashion Week.
The designer, known for his eccentric stage presentations, returned to the runway after a two-season hiatus. “I sat out too long. I needed to get back in the game,” he said.
Krajecki showed crisp, wearable “9-to-5” styles with intricate seaming and ruching. “I wanted to do simple pieces to go with all the prints out there,” he explained.
The sophisticated, clean collection came in a palette of white, ecru, khaki, yellow, gray, green, blue and black. Krajecki offered a modern take on 1970s glamour with low-cut V-necklines but maintained an element of femininity with flirty bows and ruffled trims.
Styles included sexy deep V–neck dresses and jumpsuits; halter dresses with ruffled trims; bustiers, fitted boleros and blazers paired with shorts, pencil skirts and peg-leg pants; and long ’70sstyle dresses with wide ruffled hems. —N. Jayne Seward
