Trina Turk, Live in Dallas
Los Angeles designer Trina Turk kicked off Dallas Market Week at the new Fashion Industry Gallery showroom complex with an appearance before fans and buyers on Oct. 21.
Turk sat down with Dallas television personality Mattie Roberts, who asked Turk about her “California styles” and her beginnings, inspirations and fashion direction. Turk’s Spring collection includes stretch sateens, seersucker, silk jersey and georgette designs.
The event took place in the FIG’s new sculptural garden, which was also the site for an ensuing cocktail party, during which buyers, wholesalers and designers got to know Turk better.
Among those in attendance were Laurie Hassan, who reps Trina Turk in Los Angeles and Dallas, and a number of key retailers, including John Maguire of Tootsie’s in Houston and Marcy and Abby McCoy of Marcy and Abby’s in Oklahoma.
The FIG is becoming a contemporary showcase for several West Coast labels looking to tap into the Southwest market. The building, which opened in the Dallas Arts District in January, is set to roll out its second phase of showrooms in March. —RM
