Showdown! at the Schindler House
When they looked into the night sky, the fashionistas and artists gathered on Oct. 23 at the Schindler House in West Hollywood, Calif., could see a moon that was almost full. There was no better clue that the designers participating in the first fashion show at Showdown! at the Schindler House, produced by the MAK Center for Art & Architecture and the Sundown Salon, were going to emphasize the experimental.
Ranging from the baroque designs of Los Angeles– based Jessica Rath and Millie Wilson to the paper suits and dresses of Gizmo, the looks at the show gave guests a glimpse of alternative fashion.
Other designers, artists and architects showing their work were Andrew Andrew, Bon & Ging, Ingrid Bromberg, Blain Kennedy, Feral Childe, Dioscuri, Danelle Briscoe, Judith Karoline Mussel, Susan Benningfield, Escher GuneWardena Architects Inc., LA Eyeworks, Liz Larner, Jill Spector, Matruschka Construction, Corrina Peipon, Tony Zepeda, Andrea Lenardin, Raegan Kelly, Elena Manferdini, Michael Mahalchik, Tina Marrin, My Barbarian, Renee Petropoulos, Claudia Rosa Lukas, Ujein, Wooden Moustache, We Are Lucid Dreaming and Amy Yao.
