Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring '05: Pegah Anvarian
Designer Pegah Anvarian turned to the desert for inspiration in creating her Spring 2005 collection, which debuted Oct. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.
Dusty lilacs, muted mauves and rich corals conjured up images of dusk in the desert.
Anvarian’s latest colors differed drastically from those of her Spring 2004 collection, for which she had turned to Brazil for inspiration, pairing lavender with orange and mint green with white. “This season it is super-muted,” said Anvarian, a former stylist who launched her line in 2002.
The designer, who grew up in Texas, incorporated such fabrics as jerseys and cottons into her collection, which moved easily on the runway. “The shapes come from my idea of what it means to feel free,” she explained.
Freedom was found in her open-side dresses and in tops that left ample room for movement. Dresses and tops were draped. Slacks had wide legs and cuffed bottoms. Silvery-colored leather trimmed the yokes and waists of many silhouettes.
