Gerber Names New President
Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology Inc. has named John R. Hancock as its new president.
On Feb. 1, Hancock will replace James Arthurs, who has been president of Gerber Technology since October 2002. Arthurs will become president of parent company Gerber Scientific Inc.’s Asia Pacific region. He will continue to work with Gerber Technology’s clients as a non-executive chairman.
Arthurs was partly responsible for building Gerber’s business in Asia. He opened Gerber’s first office in China more than 20 years ago.
Hancock is currently president of Gerber Coburn, a division that produces lenses for the ophthalmic industry. He has more than 30 years of experience in management, marketing and sales. He developed customer service initiatives that were adopted throughout the company and also chairs Gerber Scientific’s company- wide corporate marketing council.
“I am excited about the opportunities to meet the expanding needs of customers at Gerber Technology,” Hancock said. “The apparel and flexible-materials industry, particularly in many of the developing countries, is experiencing unprecedented change and growth. Helping customers make the most of their own opportunities by providing outstanding service and a growing range of new and sophisticated products is our No. 1 goal.”
Arthurs’ newly created position will help the company continue growth in Asia.
“The Asia-Pacific region represents an increasingly key market for all Gerber units, and I look forward to helping ensure that we fully capitalize on the opportunities there,” Arthurs said. “I am pleased to be able to continue to work with Gerber Technology and its customers as part of my new company-wide responsibilities in the region.”
Gerber Technology manufactures cuttingroom equipment, CAD/CAM software and product data management software.
