Truck Strikes Ends
California truckers have ended a week-long strike over escalating fuel prices. Business slowed at the Port of Oakland, California’s fourth-largest port, when the truckers staged their protest. According to the Los Angeles Times, most of the companies that hire the truck drivers to haul goods from the port agreed to a 25 percent pay increase to offset the rising cost of diesel fuel.
