Urban Outfitters Links With Gerber PDM
Philadelphia-based specialty chain Urban Outfitters Inc. has aligned with Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology Inc. to use the company’s WebPDM software.
Gerber created the Internet-based application to help companies manage data accumulated during the product development process.
Urban Outfitters will also invest in a product tracking system by Gerber/ICICI Infotech Inc. to track events throughout the product development and production cycle.
“We believe that this software system will allow our merchant, designer and production staffs to be more efficient and productive while making better business decisions,” said Dick Hayne, president of Urban Outfitters. “We believe we should begin to see the benefits from these systems in the fourth quarter of this year.”
Urban Outfitters operates 62 Urban Outfitters retail stores, 52 Anthropologie stores and a wholesale division with about 1,100 accounts. —Robert McAllister
