New Cooper Space Opens Doors to Electronic Gamers
E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, took over part of the Los Angeles Fashion District May 11–14 to showcase the latest in video games, electronic media and technology to more than 60,000 attendees. While the main event was staged at the Los Angeles Convention Center, several vendors used facilities within the Fashion District to roll out new product. The week kicked off with E-Focus May 11 at the California Market Center’s Fashion Theater. The event gave world media and Wall Street analysts a chance to demo the latest in electronic games, PDAs and other products.
Nokia chose the Cooper Design Space’s new 11th floor exhibition space to announce the release of its N-Gage QD portable game deck to the world press corps. The Finnish telecommunications company set up a central stage in the 22,000-square-foot space and used special effects such as smoke and circular movie screens to highlight the product.
The event gave Cooper officials a view into the future and potential of the space as a venue for major trade and entertainment events. The space will soon host the Project menswear show.
Cooper leasing director Mona Sangkala said the 11th floor space has also been attracting movie and television studios. —R.M.
