Tukatech to Launch New CAD Product
Los Angeles–based CAD/CAM provider Tukatech Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire an Indian software company that will produce Tukatech’s next generation of CAD software, TUKAcad.NET.Suite.
The company submitted applications to the Reserve Bank of India on March 12 to gain clearance for the acquisition of LogicSoft, a company founded by a group of Indian Institute of Technology engineers in 1990. Tukatech expects the deal will be approved within the next few weeks.
LogicSoft, which employs 120 software engineers, has been developing the system with Tukatech since 2000. The new software expands on the company’s current product, TukaCAD, with additional fabric design applications as well as pattern design, grading, marker making and digital printing.
Tukatech has tested the product with 50 customers during the past 14 months. Other companies recently participated in a presentation of the product.
The product will also be available on the company’s www.tukaweb.com Web site. Users will be able to design prints and 2-D patterns, conduct grading, make markers and plot. —Robert McAllister
