Otis to Honor Swim's Key Players, Buchalter
The Otis College of Art and Design will honor two key members of the Southland’s swimwear industry—Susan Crank, president and chief executive officer of the Lunada Bay Corp. in Anaheim, Calif., and Roger Williams, president of the Warnaco Swimwear Group in Commerce, Calif.—at the college’s 2004 Scholarship Benefit & Fashion Show on May 1 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
The black-tie event will highlight the work of the college’s senior fashion design students, who were mentored by a group of wellknown and talented designers, including Tanya Sarne of Ghost, Henry Duarte, Rozae Nichols, Michelle Mason, David Meister, Patricia Marquis of Cosabella and Rod Beattie of La Blanca.
The event will pay special tribute to the late Stuart Buchalter, who was a fashion industry executive and an Otis trustee.
“Stuart saw Southern California as a center for the convergence of media, technology, communication and design and helped position Otis to work with businesses that shared the college’s commitment to innovative design,” Otis President Samuel Hoi said in a press statement. “Roger Williams and Susan Crank share that spirit of innovation, as well, and continue to raise the bar, keeping West Coast style at the forefront of the fashion industry.”
Proceeds from the fund-raiser will provide future scholarships for Otis students. For more information, call (310) 665-6858.
