Nano-Tex in Deal With Avondale Mills
Emeryville, Calif.–based Nano-Tex LLC has licensed its nanotechnology stain repellant treatments to Monroe, Ga.–based Avondale Mills Inc., the country’s largest producer of workwear and sportswear. Avondale Mills produces fabrics for Gap Inc., the VF Corp., Levi Strauss & Co., the Haggar Corp., the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co., Carhartt Inc. and the Cintas Corp.
Avondale Mills will treat fabrics using Nano- Tex’s Nano-Pel and Nano-Care products, which attach molecules to individual fibers without overwhelming or coating the fabric. The material retains its performance characteristics and softness, according to Nano-Tex.
Nano-Tex has contracts with 40 mills and agreements with 25 apparel and home furnishing brands, including Nike Inc., Levi’s, Gap and Old Navy Inc. Terms of the Avondale deal were not released.
