Dragonfly Stakes Out Melrose Avenue
Dragonfly Clothing, a Fullerton, Calif.–based maker of rock ’n’ roll apparel, is branching out by opening an 1,800- square-foot flagship store on Feb. 9 at 7506 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles.
Early last year, the fast-growing company opened a 2,000-square-foot store in London. The stores trumpet the 9-year-old company’s transformation from designing a limited collection of boardshorts and T-shirts with rock-band logos to designing a full collection for Fall 2004. The collection includes long-sleeved shirts and velvet blazers. Some are silk screened with art from 32 licensees, including Bob Marley, Elvis Presley and The Sex Pistols.
Dragonfly Brand Manager Vince Gonzales said the company will spend $500,000 to market the Fall line this year.
