Marshall Fields Sale
Minneapolis-based discounter Target announced plans to sell department store Marshall Fields and nine Midwestern Mervyn’s stores to St. Louis–based May Company for $3.24 billion in cash. The sale adds 62 Marshall Fields stores, mostly in Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul, to May’s holdings, which includes 438 department stores, including Lord & Taylor and Filenes.
