Turk Joins CFDA
Los Angeles designer Trina Turk was among 21 designers recently inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Turk, who launched her company in 1996, designs contemporary clothing inspired by the clean, crisp lines of mid-century modern style. She received the California Designer of the Year award in 1998. Recently, she has branched into retail with stores in Palm Springs, Calif., and Los Angeles. Other new CFDA members hailing from the West Coast are Los Angeles jewelry designer Judith Ripka and Laurie Stark, design partner in Los Angeles–based Chrome Hearts.
