Rhodes Named Apparel News Publisher
Molly Rhodes, general manager of California Apparel News, has been named publisher of the 60-year-old publication by Carl Wernicke and Teri Fellman, co-chief executive officers of MNM Publishing, which publishes the paper.
Rhodes has been filling the day-to-day duties of publisher since previous owner Martin Wernicke died in 2000. Martin Wernicke’s son, Carl Wernicke, and daughter, Teri Fellman, took ownership of the company after their father’s death and now oversee the direction of the company.
Rhodes is wellversed in the workings of the paper and its glossy sister publications, Waterwear and Jr., which she helped launch. She has been with the paper for 26 years, holding positions as advertising art director and production manager prior to being named general manager in 1992.
“I am flattered and honored to be given this title by Teri and Carl,” Rhodes said. “I am also very pleased and proud that my efforts have helped California Apparel News grow to the level of influence it has in the industry today.”
Rhodes is on the California Fashion Association board of directors and received the Friend of TALA award from the Textile Association of Los Angeles in 2001. —Alison A. Nieder
