Ecko's 42nd Street Hub
New York–based urban apparel label Ecko Unlimited has signed a lease with The New 42nd Street to open a 30,393-square-foot, three-level store in the historic Times Square Theater. The store will be designed as a crosscultural discovery center, according to the company, which plans to showcase its labels—Ecko Unltd., Marc Ecko, Eckored, G-Unit Clothing, Zoo York, Femme Arsenal and Fetish—as well as “culturally relevant books, music, movies, art, electronics and entertainment.” The New 42nd Street is a nonprofit organization that oversees seven historic theaters on 42nd Street. The Times Square Theater was commissioned in 1920 by Edgar and Arch Selwyn and designed by architects de Rosa and Pereira. New York architectural firm Janson-Goldstein LLP has been signed to restore and redevelop the space, expected to open in 2006.
