CMC to Open quot;Street Couturequot; Section
The California Market Center in Los Angeles is opening a new section, dubbed “Street Couture,” for alternative and street clothing lines.
The section will be located on the 11th floor of the building’s B wing and will contain more than 20,000 square feet of permanent showroom and temporary exhibit space.
As part of the leasing program, the Agenda trade show—which features art, music and contemporary clothing with a street edge—will occupy 6,000 square feet of the floor. The growing trade show will take place April 1–3 and Oct. 29–31. Permanent showrooms, which will make up about 15,000 square feet, will also open their doors during market events.
“We’re looking for tenants with a more contemporary street appeal with a bit of a cutting edge,” said Jennifer Jordan, director of leasing for the CMC.
Jordan said the CMC is close to signing several leases for the space. Examples of apparel that may be carried on 11B include graphic T-shirts and contemporary menswear and womenswear with a street influence. With the addition, the CMC will carry apparel categories including contemporary, juniors, misses, menswear, accessories, innerwear and urban lines.
