Costume Designers Guild Names Nominees
The Beverly Hills–based Costume Designers Guild has named the nominees for its annual awards event, planned for Feb. 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The nominees for contemporary film are: Durinda Wood for “A Mighty Wind,” Joseph G. Aulisi for “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” Catherine Thomas for “Kill Bill: Vol. 1” and Sophie de Rakoff Carbonell for “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.”
For period or fantasy film, the nominees are Ngila Dickson for “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” Penny Rose for “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” Judianna Makovsky for “Seabiscuit” and Ngila Dickson for “The Last Samurai.”
The nominees for contemporary television costumes are Laura Goldsmith for “Alias,” Patricia Field for “Sex and the City,” Jill Ohanneson for “Six Feet Under,” Juliet Polcsa for “The Sopranos” and Lori Eskowitz- Carter for “Will & Grace.”
The nominees for period or fantasy costumes for television are Eduardo Castro for “And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself,” Ann Roth for “Angels in America,” Ruth Myers for the pilot of “Carnivale” and Terry Dresbach for the HBO series, and Maria M. Schicker for “Hitler, The Rise of Evil.”
Nancy Steiner and Ivan Ingermann are each nominated for commercial costume designs.
James Acheson will also be awarded the Guild’s Bulgari Career Achievement for Film Award and Noel Taylor will receive the guild’s honorary Career Achievement in Television Award. The President’s Award will be given to Tzetzi Ganev and Tomas Velasco.
