Curves, FabulAss Move to Century City and Milan

Los Angeles designer Sami Mahdavi has moved her design studio from downtown Los Angeles to Century City, Calif., where she will headquarter her lingerie label, FabulAss, and her women’s apparel line, Curves.

Mahdavi’s design studio and showroom were previously based in the Gerry Building. She is currently looking to relocate her Los Angeles showroom.

The designer also recently joined the Bagmass Showroom in Milan, Italy, which helped her open accounts in Italy, France, Spain and Russia.

“Not bad for a month and a half,” she said, adding that representatives from the showroom approached her after seeing her collection in the H. Lorenzo boutique at the Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles.

The Bagmass Showroom is handling both international sales and distribution for Mahdavi’s two lines. The Curves collection is a contemporary line of silk separates. The FabulAss line includes camis and panties manufactured in Italy.

Mahdavi, who typically shows her collection at Lingerie Americas, said she will skip the March 1–4 run of the show while she relocates her design studio. She plans to take the two collections to Fashion Coterie in New York this fall.

In the meantime, Mahdavi is concentrating on filling her overseas orders. “The people in Europe are keeping me very busy,” she said.
