Lectra Doubled Profits in 2003

Paris-based technology provider Lectra posted an 8 percent gain in revenues and doubled its profits in 2003 thanks to growth in Asia and the United States.

The company provides cutting-room equipment and CAD, product development and merchandising software.

Lectra posted sales of 184.7 million euros. The company’s net income surged 100 percent to 7.4 million euros. Sales in the company’s Asia-Pacific region grew 38 percent, and North American sales advanced 5 percent.

Having recently acquired Spanish rival Investronica Sistemas, Lectra has extended its market share to 1.8 times that of its nearest competitor. As a result of Lectra’s financial position, Chief Executive Officer Daniel Harari said the company will look for further acquisitions to achieve growth. —R.M.
