FIDM Costume Exhibit Opens

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s 12th annual “The Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibition opened on Jan. 30 at the school’s Museum Galleries in downtown Los Angeles.

The design school’s opening-night party drew a crowd of designers, industry executives and FIDM students, alumni and faculty.

The exhibition features more than 100 costumes from 25 of last year’s films, including the Academy Award–nominated costumes for “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “Seabiscuit,” “Girl With a Pearl Earring,” “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” and “The Last Samurai.”

The exhibition runs through April 8. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information about the exhibit, call (213) 624-1200, Ext. 2224.
