Dirtbag, Garage Radio Enter Partnership
San Francisco–based streetwear line Dirtbag Clothing Co. is employing new methods of grass-roots marketing to get a jump on the competition. The independent company, founded by Doug Canning, has struck a deal with Garage Radio to feature Dirtbag’s line of T-shirts, hoodies and tanks in the online music company’s new store, debuting next month at www.garageradio.com.
Garage Radio, a source for emerging bands and musicians, features rock, metal and hip-hop music programs as well as forums and downloads. The subscriber base fits well with Dirtbag’s streetwear customers, said John Foxworthy, founder of Garage Radio.
“These guys have supported the same ideals Garage Radio was built on since before we were around,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dirtbag Clothing is not sure whether it will continue its new Dimebag Hardware clothing line, a collaboration with musician “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who was fatally shot in an Ohio nightclub on Dec. 8.
“Everyone is in shock and we’ll talk about it in a few days,” said a company spokesman. Dirtbag outfits a number of bands, including Soulfly, Drowning Pool, The Mimsies and From the Desk of Sally. Garage Radio’s store will alsoThe company also opened its first retail store in the Bay Area.
