'ZenDental' Office Opens at CMC
Longtime California Market Center tenant Dr. Roy Fogelman has retired after 32 years in the building. His practice, in suite B225, has been taken over by Dr. Jay Khorsandi, a Southern California native with roots in the local apparel industry.
Khorsandi’s father, Jack Khorsandi, has been in the apparel industry for nearly 30 years as owner of wholesale textile company Sasha Tex Inc. Khorsandi holds a medical degree from Northwestern University Dental School and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his residency at Lutheran Medical in Tucson, Ariz.
He worked at several dental offices in West Los Angeles before founding his own company, Spa-Smiles, which provides onehour in-office teeth-whitening treatments in Los Angeles–area day spas. He also is on the staff of UCLA’s dental school.
Khorsandi has dubbed his CMC office “ZenDental” and plans to decorate with a modern Zen motif. He is working with an interior designer and hopes to have the remodel done by the end of August. “My office vision has been to transform the practice by incorporating the latest technology and techniques within a very serene environment,” he said.
He is expanding the range of services offered by the office to include veneers, implants and a variety of teeth-whitening options.
“My main goal is to be able to provide high-quality and comprehensive dental care in a relaxed setting and make it accessible to all the mart employees as well as neighboring buildings,” he said.
Longtime office staffers Eve Ortiz, Nadia Vasquez, Jenny Teague and Carla Alvarez have remained at the practice. The office accepts several insurance plans, including many private and PPO plans. Khorsandi will be keeping the same office hours as Fogelman— 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday—and he said he is evaluating whether to add Friday hours, as well.
