Karanina Adds Sparkle for Holiday
“Casual, feminine and flirty” is the design philosophy that extends throughout Karanina’s playful and chic tops-driven collection.
Designers Kara Smith and Nina Firestone launched the line two years ago in Santa Barbara, Calif. Their initial collection, which debuted during the recent Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles, was casual, yet modern, with geometric patterns and polka dots.
For Holiday, the 15-piece collection focuses on soft dressings that can be worn over denim, jersey skirts or formal bottoms. The tops line is made with stretch-silk satins and silk jersey and is embellished with rhinestones and sparkle trims. Silhouettes in the youthful and stylish collection include a dolman open-sleeve blouse with sequined woven banding, a Greco-Roman–style strapless wrap top with broach detail, and a modish dotembossed silk jersey shirt. The collection also features outerwear pieces, including a sporty tweed jacket and classic driving coats.
“It’s got a casual feel, but it is also festive enough for parties and going out on the town,” Smith said.
Wholesale price points range from $44 for a sleeveless jersey top to $120 for a brown tweed jacket. Holiday deliveries will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30.
The line will be sold at Honeycomb in Santa Barbara, Abigail Morgan in San Francisco, Modern Romance in Newport Beach, Calif., Emphatic at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, Calif., and Searle in New York.
