CMC Gains New Web Presence
The California Market Center has made it easier to get online information about the Los Angeles–based apparel market by improving its Web site, www.californiamarketcenter.com.
The CMC renovated the site to give retailers easy access to information regarding showrooms, rental facilities and the apparel industry. “It’s much easier to navigate now. It speaks to all our services and is more visually appealing,” said Jennifer Uner, executive director of advertising and communications for the CMC.
The CMC designed the site in-house with the help of designer Margo Thornton. The site was written in HTML (hypertext markup language) to allow visitors to access information without coming up against the barriers associated with plug-ins, Uner said. The CMC also used new Web technology that simplifies the navigation process to prevent users from being bogged down by multiple Web pages opening simultaneously.
Other improvements include streamlined showroom searches, updated market information and faster access to showroom details. A new section features information on renting the CMC’s fashion theater and other areas of the center. Visitors can also find out sample sale dates.
Uner said the CMC will continue to fill out sections of the site through October and plans to add e-mail capabilities, allowing visitors to sign on to receive CMC newsletters and other news alerts. —Robert McAllister
