Adriano Goldschmied Showroom
The New Martsuite 1207(213) 683-0030
The Adriano Goldschmied Showroom’s 3,600-squarefoot denim lair on The New Mart’s 12th floor is modern and spacious, with copper rooms and columns and denimlined walls.
Last April, the showroom opened its doors with two denim lines: AG Adriano Goldschmied, a premium denim line for men and women, and Big Star, a 1-year-old contemporary denim line for men and women. Both lines are produced by Koos Manufacturing Inc., which cuts, sews, dyes and finishes the denim in its Los Angeles factory.
The denim deacute;cor is apparent in the showroom’s tables and chairs, which are lined with AG Adriano Goldschmied– and Big Star–branded denim fabrics. Other details include copper light fixtures.
The showroom’s look is in line with the contemporary denim maker’s fashion-forward thinking.
With wholesale price points ranging from $59 to $76, AG Adriano Goldschmied features novelty washes and handstitched details on denim imported from Europe and Japan. For Holiday 2004, the line offers tops and bottoms in denim, mini-stretch corduroy and velveteen fabrics. It also includes novel looks in stretch twill and thermal fabrics. Highend retailers Barneys in Los Angeles; American Rag in Los Angeles and San Francisco; and Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s nationwide carry the premium denim line.
Big Star offers bottoms, jackets, woven shirts and novelty T-shirts at a lower price point than AG Adriano Goldschmied. For Holiday 2004, the line offers fashion-forward denim styles such as boot-cut bottoms, miniskirts and jackets, as well as stretch-corduroy and twill tops and bottoms. Villains in San Francisco; Yellowdog in Los Angeles; Let’s Go in La Jolla, Calif.; Blake PDX in Portland, Ore.; and Hub Clothing in Scottsdale, Ariz., carry the line, which wholesales from $39 to $48. —Claudia Figueroa
