L.A. Fashion Week Fall '04: Joe's Jeans
Joe's Jeans a line started by Joe Dahan three years ago, is more than just jeans. This was seen in the Fall 2004 collection, which hit the runway on April 1 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.
The women’s collection married slim-fitting jeans with all sorts of tops, from knits with fabric that crisscrossed the body and accented slim waists to hooded tees with a beachy feel.
Tucked into the line were sleek suits with buttoned jackets, hooded tweed winter jackets and frayed denim miniskirts. Colors were mostly earth tones such as forest green, sun yellow or fawn beige. And, of course, there was denim blue.
Men’s designs consisted mostly of layered looks, including vests and shirts over T-shirts or sweat shirts with funnel-neck collars.
The show received kudos for its artistic presentation, highlighted by the performance of Japanese artist Oguri, who danced in a minimalist style with minimalist attire––a loincloth.
Dahan said the collection forges simple, clean lines that represent the architectural trends of a futuristic metropolis. —D.B.
