PAD Breaks Into Textile Design
CAD software provider PAD System Technologies Inc. has forged a partnership with Toyoshima Business System Co. Ltd. of Osaka, Japan, to integrate TBS’ 4Dbox textile-design software into PAD’s product line.
The agreement will give PAD users access to 4Dbox, which produces designs for woven, knitted and printed textiles. The system is popular in Asia, where TBS has about 1,100 clients. It is also used in schools throughout the continent.
With U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles, PAD markets CAD software geared for pattern and apparel design. The alignment with TBS, a company valued at 3 billion yen, will give PAD a foot in the door of the textile-design market.
The deal will also coincide with the version 4.5 release of PAD’s Master Pattern Design software. Among the new features is a clone module that allows users to apply changes to patterns immediately and thus eliminate several production steps.
To kick off the release, PAD is hosting several seminars at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York throughout September. The company has also opened a New York office at 248 W. 35th St. Charles Ancona is the manager of the new office. For more information, call (212) 217-7250. —Robert McAllister
