Self Esteem Goes Vintage, Doubles Showroom Space
Los Angeles–based junior apparel maker Self Esteem has signed several licensing deals to use the vintage toy and candy brands Dubble Bubble, Slinky, Abba Zabba, Big Hunk, BB Bats, Kits and Fizzies for a collection of junior, tween and girls’ tops.
The collection, called Self Esteem Vintage, launched in New York last month.
The company has an initial two-year licensing agreement with the candy and toy makers. Plans include putting vintage advertising images, logos, graphics and characters on T-shirts using print- and foil-screen processes, appliqueacute;s, rhinestones and glitter.

Self Esteem is also moving to a larger showroom in the California Market Center in Los Angeles. The company will double the size of its space when it moves to suite B825.
The new 3,400-square-foot showroom will house all the company’s product lines, including its junior and girls’ tops and activewear, handbags, sleepwear, intimates, footwear and hosiery, and the Self Esteem Vintage line.
The new showroom will open during the Los Angeles Junior & Contemporary Majors Market, which will be held Oct. 13–15. The space, designed by Blackline Environments, features sleek white furnishings with metal accents, slate floors, open vaulted ceilings and suspended metal hangbars.
The company will host a party to celebrate the showroom opening during the Los Angeles market. The Oct. 13 party will have a retro “truck stop” theme. For more information, call (213) 895-0450.
