Da-Rue Wins All-Star Award
Los Angeles–based sportswear manufacturer Da-Rue of California Inc. was among the winners at the 2003 All-Star Awards ceremony, held on Nov. 14 at the Apparel Tech Conference in Raleigh, N.C. The event honored the most progressive companies in the apparel, retail and soft-goods industries.
Sara Lee Branded Apparel, New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc., the California State University system, Romar Textile Co. Inc. and five other companies and individuals picked up awards at the event. The companies showed excellence in technology, business management and corporate growth, as well as displays of goodwill within their specific industries. Industry executives and representatives from the California Fashion Association, the Sporting Goods Manufacturers-Marketers Association International, the Sewn Products Equipment Suppliers of the Americas, the International Textile and Apparel Association and the Textile/Clothing Technology Corp. nominated the winners.
Da-Rue was noted for its all-around excellence as a manufacturer of women’s resortwear that employs technology and gets involved in the community it serves. The company has operated in Los Angeles since 1945. —Robert McAllister
