L.A. Fashion Week Spring '04: Rojas
Freddie Rojas showed his Spring 2004 “Patent” collection for his Rojas line in an informal installation runway show on Oct. 28 at Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A..
The fashion-forward sportswear designer said the installation format was more personal than other methods. “I wanted a lot more people to see [the collection] up close,” he said.
“The space is raw, and I’m kind of raw,” he joked.
Rojas showed looks for both women and men with styles heavily inspired by the ’80s. For women, he paired silk hoodies with boy-beater dresses, polo halters with seersucker culottes and fishnet tops with asymmetrical-hem skirts. The designer also offered jumper dresses, short pleated skirts, off-the-shoulder sweat tops, and mini-dresses with foil details. For men, styles included reversible vintage puffy vests over T-shirts paired with canvas work pants, polo shirts with low trousers, and an “LA/NY” T-shirt over a pin-striped longsleeved shirt paired with black crop pants with stripe detail. —N.J.S.
