Timi & Leslie Strike 'Angel' Deal

Timi Prulhiere and Leslie Newton of Los Angeles-based Timi & Leslie Inc. have signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to create a line of upscale handbags for the summer release of “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”

The line will be loaded with attitude, eclectic styles and brilliant colors, said the designers. Newton said she was inspired by the artwork that Sony created for the movie and incorporated those designs into her bags.

This will be Timi & Leslie’s first venture into licensing. Previously, the 3- year-old company produced ultra-hip diaper bags for retailers such as Fred Segal and babystyle. The new collection, called Timi & Leslie Handbags by Leslie Newton for Charlie’s Angels, will target women between the ages of 18 and 49.

The line will have four styles. Beach bags will come in three colors with logo designs such as “Fast & Furious,” “Chillin’” and “Sun Goddess” and will wholesale at $45. Clutch bags will come in turquoise, purple and black with logo designs such as “So Metro,” “Angel” and “Honey” and will wholesale at $70. Polka-dot baguettes ($75) and wooden- handle bags ($85) will come with logo designs “Lily Pad” and “Violets in Bloom.”

The company said it will target better retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and Saks. —Claudia Figueroa
