Security Textile to Sponsor CLAD Show
Los Angeles-based interlining and textile firm Security Textile Corp. has signed on as a sponsor of the Coalition of Los Angeles Designers (CLAD) fashion show set for April 4 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
Security Textile president and chief executive officer Brian Weitman said several of his customers are CLAD members, including Darren Gold, CLAD’s president and a co-owner of the contemporary line Mhope.
Security Textile supports up-and-coming design firms by offering no minimums on orders and free testing for pre-production fabrics, Weitman said.
“Some of the more creative talent comes from these smaller, independent designers, and that’s what starts the California look,” he said, adding that his company plans to sponsor more CLAD events.
The CLAD fashion show is Security Textile’s first involvement in Los Angeles Fashion Week, which is shaping up to be one of the largest Fashion Weeks yet. IMG, the producer of New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, is producing several shows in downtown Los Angeles, and Smashbox Studios is producing several shows at its venue in Culver City, Calif.
“We have a great opportunity to put L.A. and California on the map in a way it’s never been before,” Weitman said. “I think it’s the best thing to invest in our future in our marketplace.” —Alison A. Nieder
