More Jobs, Actually
The Employment Development Department of California announced the state added 28,500 new nonfarm jobs in January. The department had originally reported that the state had shed 10,500 nonfarm jobs last month. The error stemmed from the method the department used to calculate the number of seasonal workers. Analysts have used the new calculations to correct the figures for the past 10 years, said the department. According to the adjusted figures, factory payroll dropped by 8,200 statewide, not 28,100 as originally reported.
