Schwab's Rediscovered
A developer is considering the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood for a mixed-use development that would be anchored by Schwab’s Pharmacy—which a popular (but incorrect) legend says is where actress Lana Turner was discovered. Santa Monica–based Bond Co. has purchased the rights to the pharmacy’s name and is working with Beverly Hills–based Canyon Capital Realty and Los Angeles–based Johnson Development Corp. on a $125 million retail and housing development called Sunset + Vine. The developers expect housing units will be available in spring 2004.
