California's Job Losses
California manufacturers shed 4,000 jobs in April, according to the California Employment Development Department. The EDD tallied manufacturing jobs at 1.58 million, or about 11 percent of employment statewide across all industries. The manufacturing sector was not the hardest hit in April—professional and business services and government agencies reported higher losses.
