Retail Federation Goes Global
The Washington, D.C.–based National Retail Federation (NRF) has formed the International Retail Federation (IRF), a global trade agency that will ser ve retailers by offering networking events, education, products, services and other resources.
The 300-plus NRF members based outside the United States will automatically receive IRF memberships. NRF President and Chief Executive Tracy Mullin will also serve as the president of the IRF.
In the coming months, IRF expects to announce key strategic alliances that will expand the reach and capabilities of the association.
“With the creation of the IRF, we can now bring our international members all of the benefits and services of NRF within one global entity,” Mullin said. “Collaboration between domestic and international retailers encourages industry growth. The inception of a devoted international arm fortifies NRF’s commitment to the global retail landscape.”
NRF’s members come from department, specialty, discount, catalog, Internet and independent stores, as well as from the industry’s key trading partners of retail goods and services. IRF members represent an industry that registers revenues of approximately $7 trillion worldwide. —Robert McAllister
