Zuckerman to House New Buffalo Office
Gene Zuckerman & Associates, one of the oldest and largest showrooms in the California Market Center, is getting a new look. The showroom is embarking on a construction project and bringing in a new Buffalo by David Bitton corporate office this summer.
Zuckerman has experienced rapid success over the past year with the Canadian-based contemporary line. As a result, Buffalo has entered into a joint venture with Zuckerman to open a 1,500–2,000-square-foot corporate office in the showroom’s existing 7,500- square-foot space, located in suite B571 of the CMC.
Zuckerman said the modular space will include a bar and lounge and will feature plenty of chrome and white details.
“We’ll be lowering all the fixtures for better visibility as well,” he said.
The redesign should be completed by September.
“We hope to be ready by August market,” Zuckerman noted.
Meanwhile, Zuckerman remains a source for specialty stores. The showroom carries no less than 15 contemporary and contemporary/misses lines, including Buffalo, I-Jeans, YLondon, Muchacha, Frenzii, Natalie D., Good Goddess, 2 Love, Love Amour, Finley, Paolo Santini, Sao Paulo, Janine of London, In Suede and Pinkee. Offerings include everything from T-shirts to fine leather goods. Most of the lines are nationally distributed and fall within bridge/better price points.
Zuckerman caters to specialty-store accounts looking for brands that are not over-distributed in department stores.
“These specialty stores need something different,” he said. “We try and give our buyers lines that aren’t carried in the majors, so they don’t have to worry about continuous markdowns.”
Sales managers Judy Collier, Stephanie Drozen, Howard Meyers and Zuckerman oversee the collections. For more information, call (213) 623-2255.
