Scottsdale, Ariz-based handgun maker Smith & Wesson Corp. has struck a licensing deal with Japanese conglomerate Nissho Iwai General Merchandise Corp. for a line of men’s and women’s apparel under the Smith & Wesson name. This is the first international licensing venture for the 150-year-old gun maker. Nissho Iwai will produce and market graphic T-shirts and other apparel for sale in the Japan market. The Smith & Wesson brand is not new to Nissho Iwai, which is a major distributor of the company’s firearms in Japan for police and military use.
