Jobless Drop
New unemployment claims dropped in mid-December, according to the Department of Labor, which noted that this was the steepest drop in more than one year. The number of new claims decreased by a seasonally adjusted 60,000 to 378,000 in the week ended Dec. 21, in the second consecutive week of decline.
