Tukatech Opens Tukacenter in China
Los Angeles-based CAD/CAM provider Tukatech Inc. has opened a new Tukacenter CAD/CAM rental and training store in China.
Tukacenters are the company’s Kinko’slike stores where apparel-industry workers can get training on CAD/CAM software and rent computers equipped with Tukatech’s CAD/CAM and design programs. The centers also offer plotters and other equipment for use.
The company will be working with franchise Su Group in Guangdong, China, where the newest Tukacenter will be equipped with 25 TUKAcad workstations and four TUKAjet plotters. The center, which Tukatech has designated as a flagship store with more product offerings and services than regular Tukacenters, will also provide work services and plotting to the local community. This is the company’s second Chinese location. (Tukatech opened its first Chinese center recently in Qingdao.)
Tukatech now has about 30 Tukacenters in Los Angeles, Canada, the United Kingdom, India and Korea. By the end of 2003, Su Group and Tukatech intend to open six more units in China.
“We are the largest user of Tukatech systems and have now decided to expand our business model,” remarked Andy Su, chairman of Su Group. —Robert McAllister
