MarcoMarco Draws a Designer Crowd
The designers turned out for Marco Morante’s party celebrating the opening of his design studio in Hollywood.
Among the fashionable crowd were Yosi Dori and Noni Tochterman, the husband-and-wife team behind Petro Zillia, designer Maggie Barry, and Juuml;nker Designs’ team of Tod Waters and Giulana Mayo.
Morante studied costume design at the California Institute of the Arts and worked for Dori and Tochterman at Petro Zillia. Morante has been designing his one-of-a-kind creations under the MarcoMarco label for five years before moving into the space on Las Palmas Avenue six months ago. The space formerly was occupied by designer Rick Owens, who kept it dark and moody. Under Morante’s direction, everything is bright and cheerful, much like the MarcoMarco styles, which consist of artfully draped and layered pieces made from a candy-colored palette of printed and solid knits. —Alison A.
