Gerber Gets New West Coast Director
Rodney Harrelson has been named the new deputy regional director for Gerber Technology Inc.’s Los Angeles office, which supplies cutting-roomequipment and business management software for the apparel, textiles and home-furnishings industries.
Harrelson will replace Alan Seymour, who returned to Toronto to assume his former position as sales director for central and western Canada. Seymour, who was appointed to the Los Angeles position only one year ago, returned to Canada to spend more time with his family, said a company spokesperson.
Harrelson, formerly a senior sales executive with Gerber, will manage all sales operations on the West Coast of the United States and Canada, as well as in parts of Mexico. Gerber eventually will fill Harrelson’s former position, said the spokesperson.
Harrelson joined Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber in September 2002. He had previously been a sales executive for Lectra and a regional manager for Microdynamics, which eventually merged with Gerber. Harrelson had also managed cutting-room systems for apparel companies including the Jantzen Apparel Corp. and Ratner Clothes.
Regional director Bud Staples said Harrelson’s familiarity with the West Coast market will help smooth his transition. “Rodney’s many years of experience will prove beneficial to our existing customer base, as well as prospective customers,” Staples said.
Gerber also named Barry Jackowitz as the new director of aftermarket sales. Jackowitz will be responsible for developing new business in the cutter supplies and plotter supplies markets. —Robert McAllister
