Jones, Kasper Deal Set
New York–based Jones Apparel Group Inc. won approval from a bankruptcy cour t judge to acquire New York–based Kasper A.S.L. Ltd., maker of Anne Klein apparel, for $204 million and the assumption of approximately $12.6 million in liabilities. Jones outbid rival Kellwood Co., which offered $200 million for Kasper. The acquisition adds several suit labels to Jones’ holdings, including Kasper, Albert Nipon and Le Suit. The apparel giant is already making plans for the Anne Klein label that could include retail opportunities and international expansion.
